Most of my works are taken in forests, or near rivers and lakes in the Netherlands and Germany. As I love the solitude of nature, I often went for long walks or bike rides through the woods, and found many beautiful places that I would like to "freeze on a frame". I bought a camera, and simply started taking pictures of all the beauty that was around me.

Still, I like to add some of my imagination to the trees and the skies, and for this, I often retouch the original photo's in photoshop. I like to experiment with colours, up to the point where I feel they do justice to the photograph. I often go to the woods right before a thunderstorm, for the sky is full of large clouds then, which give many of my photographs a somewhat moody, threatening feel. At least that is how I see it, and though I usually am totally soaked by the time I get home, I usually - not always! - think the results or worth it. Many people have said to me I must be living in some extraordinary part of the world, but the truth is, if you go out right before the rain, you'd be surprised with the beauty of your landscapes too. After all, the Netherlands are not that spectacular, really... ;)
