A simple way of protecting your art

Watermarks are a useful tool in protecting your artwork from illegal use by others on the web. There are numerous styles to make watermarks, but this tutorial will merely be focussed on how to make one. The procedure is very simple, and styles can vary depending on personal taste. The example in this tutorial is a very straight forward one.

Start by opening the image you want to add a watermark to.

Select the type tool and type the text anywhere you like. In this case, I have chosen to fill as much of the picture as possible to prevent as much stealing as possible. (Though it obviously doesn't look very charming.)

Now, the only thing you need to do is change the opacity and fill of the type layer. I've set them to 50% each, which makes the typing more transparant.

From here on, you can start experimenting where to place your watermark, which font to use, etc.
